NEW TRAINING TIMES 4pm to 5.30pm Thursday

After much discussion we have decided, as a club, to move our training sessions to a Thursday evening. With the various commitments of our coaches it became clear that Saturday mornings were no longer an option. Our plan is now to build on the links with Ivybridge Community College and Plymouth Marjon Hockey Club and offer a more complete hockey training programme. U10's and U12's will continue to train with us, with more coaches available to offer progressive, fun skills and games in smaller groups. More sessions are being timetabled for those students attending ICC during the school day, including a new hockey academy, in which selected players will receive specialist coaching. Further, those players who will now be too old for our sessions are encouraged to join the U14 training sessions, run by highly qualified coaches at the college of St. Mark and St. John. For girls these sessions will be on a Tuesday (5.30-6.30) and for boys a Thursday (time tbc). These players, if they wish, will still have the added bonus of competing as Ivybridge in the PHDG Leagues.

PHDG League Presentation

Thanks to everyone who attended the PHDG League presentation on Sunday 28th June at the OPM Club, Plymouth College.
CONGRATULATIONS to the U14 and U12 Boys for winning their leagues and to the U14 Girls for being runners up and a big thank you to all parents, managers and players for attending all those cold, wet Friday nights. It really was worth it!

DEVON GAMES TO INSPIRE

The 11th annual Devon Youth Games will be held in Barnstaple on Sunday July 5th where hundreds of children will be competing in a variety of sports including indoor athletics, badmington, cricket, gymnastics, hockey, netball, street sports, tag rugby, table tennis, volleyball, and tetrathlon. The trials for the hockey teams will take place at ICC on 25th April @9.30-10.30am. Anyone in years 6,7 and 8 can attended.

A seasons membership is £40.00, and is due to be paid by Sepember 30th 2009.

Development Centres - Assessments

Following England Hockey's new single system, area trials have been replaced by assessments for a local Junior Development Centre (JDC) which will take place before Christmas in Plymouth. This is followed by an opportunity for those selected from the JDC to attend a Junior Academy Centre (JAC) after Christmas. This centre is what would previously have been called County training.
